Since its establishment back in 1949, the only musical theatre in the region has changed its name several times, from “Humorous theatre“, than “Belgrade Comedy“ and finally “Terazije Theatre“.
The reconstruction of the inadequate space, with the stage on underground level, lasted until 2005. The theatre was closed during the nineties and the performing was moved to another building.
The city authority began the investment into the reconstruction of the building, a protected cultural landmark, with a new Project.
Svetlost Teatar was engaged with the entire scope of its professional activities in the equipping and development of a new concept for the Musical theatre.
As part of those efforts, certain original solutions for stage machinery systems were developed.
To achieve a continuous Stage transformation, two stage platforms with dimensions 2.5mx9.5m were developed as hanging platforms along the depth of the stage. The orchestra platform was developed with 4 segments and a motorized barrier.
When the platforms were raised to grid level, each of them was equipped with 10 shaft hoist devices, scenery hoists, on the bottom.
Steel fireproof curtain was also made from two horizontal telescopic segments due to insufficient height in the proscenium zone.
To bring in the set decoration, a “baldachin” cargo platform was developed with 6 Spiralifts 18”, which is lifted from the stage level to the level of the pavement on the square, and which can be used by a freight vehicle up to 5 tons to access the platform and descend to the unloading area of the main stage. The upper surface of the cargo platform is paved with decorative slabs as the nearby square surface, and for permanent usability purposes, it has an ice melt system installed during the winter months. Additionally, a complete upper machinery system was made and installed, as well as machinery management system, stage lighting, ambient lighting of the Cabaret stage, audio, video system.
The main sound system, Mayer Sound and many wireless microphone systems give an excellent electroacoustic result in the auditorium.
